SERMON - UNLEASHING THE KINGDOM

 Kris Vallotton | December 31, 2022

In this message from December 18th, 2022 at Bethel Church in Redding CA, Kris Vallotton shares about the power of the Christmas story and reminds us of all the miraculous events that surround the birth of Jesus. He encourages the Church that this is a season of holy disruption and there is a battle over who we will worship. Will we choose to worship the god of domestication or will we rise up and become unleashed once more to see apostolic cities established around the globe. This message will restore your awe of the Christmas story and spur you on to partner with God in unleashing His kingdom.

UNLEASHING THE KINGDOM SERMON NOTES

Kris had a vision of a man walking down the street with a domesticated lion on a leash. Then a voice cried out, “Unleash the Kingdom!” The Lord is letting the Lion off the leash and this is the disruptive nature to the kingdom of God.

Often as a Church in our desire to be welcoming to the world, we have become domesticated. It is like a frog in water that slowly heats up. In the same way, the Church is being “boiled” by the fear of man and the fear of failure.

You can see this in how the Church has sterilized the Christmas story. The whole Christmas story is full of miracles and our salvation resides on the belief that Mary carried God in her womb. This is miraculous!

God is bringing us into a season of holy disruptions, an Elijah/John the Baptist Era.

  • Just as Elijah rebuilt the altar of worship in his day and his personal God encounter became a national breakthrough, God is rebuilding the altar of worship which will lead to global transformation. (1 Kings 18)
  • Just as God unexpectedly moved through John the Baptist in the desert, God is again moving in realms that we aren’t expecting him to. (Matthew 3)

The battle is over who we will worship.

Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted but he left the desert in the power of the Spirit and worship.

Throughout scripture, powerful moves of God were described using violent language like a rushing wind or earthquake.

  • Matthew 11:12 - Violent men take the kingdom by force.
  • Acts 2:1 - The Holy Spirit came as a violent wind.
  • Exodus 19:18 - God’s Presence descended as smoke and a violent quaking
  • Psalms 68:8 - The earth quaked at the Presence of God.
  • Isaiah 64:3 - The mountains quaked at God’s Presence.
  • Habakkuk 3:10 - The mountains saw God and quaked.
  • Matthew 27:50 - The earth quaked at the resurrection of Jesus.
  • Acts 4:29 - The earth shook at the prayers of the saints.
  • Acts 16:25 - The earth quaked during the jailhouse worship.

God is establishing apostolic cities and violent acts of grace are being released into the nations. These violent acts are not coming on people but God is coming as in the book of Acts to bring transformation, salvation and signs & wonders. God is visiting us with the earthquake of his presence!
