SOUL FOOD PODCAST NOTES

What do you do to restore your soul? What do you do to restore your creativity and compassion? We are constantly going through transition of some kind, it’s just the nature of life. But, on that journey only you know how you’re doing internally. You are responsible for the wellness of your soul—not you wife, friends, boss, not even God (although He certainly can help).

In this week’s podcast, I share the Seven Enemies of Your Soul and how you counteract the havoc they can wreak.

7 Enemies of Your Soul:

  1. Creating expectations in others that you can’t fulfill
  2. Imagining the worst in challenging situations
  3. Living in regret for you past decisions or sins
  4. Refusing to forgive others or yourself
  5. Not setting boundaries with disrespectful people
  6. Trying to live up to the expectations of others
  7. Taking yourself too seriously

7 Habits of Healthy People:
  1. Develop a healthy rhythm for your life—don’t over promise and under perform
  2. In challenging situations, instead of imagining the worst, ask God what He has to say and then imagine what that would look like
  3. Past failures become today’s wisdom when we process them through the cross — life experiences set us up to make better decisions in the future
  4. Make it your goal to have no offense
  5. Respect yourself and don’t be a martyr (in the context of the command to love your enemies)
  6. Live to please the Lord, not people...remember, miserable people want someone to blame for their miserable life
  7. We need to laugh a lot...especially when we make mistakes
