ATTRIBUTES OF PROPHETIC MOVEMENTS

 Kris Vallotton | Mar 18, 2020
We have an incredible opportunity to engage with culture and see heaven come to earth. In this podcast, I teach about how prophetic movements can radically reform the world. I want to remind you today that you are called to shape history!

ATTRIBUTES OF PROPHETIC MOVEMENTS:
PODCAST NOTES

Three attributes of prophetic movements that radically reform the world:

  1. It’s engaged in culture: in the Jesus movement our motto was “come out and be separate.” But the verse for this season is Matthew 13:33, where the kingdom is leaven that gets worked through all the dough.
  2. It’s hopeful: Matthew 5:14-16 –we are the light of the world.
  3. It’s insightful: 1 Chronicles 12:32 , Matthew 16:1-3 –We need to understand the seasons and times.

Greeks had two words for time: Chronos and Karios . In Hebrew, there’s only one word for time, so you have to look at context to see if it’s Chronos or Kairos.

It’s important to understand our authority in Christ. God dictates the Kairos moments and we take leadership because we’re leading from the third heaven (Ephesians 2:6), not the first heaven. If we don't take the lead in those Kairos times and seasons, then the second heaven is leading the first heaven because we left our throne.

We have to understand history. Sometimes our offense causes us to not see history clearly. If we don't understand history, we might be repeating it without knowing it. You don’t have to learn from your mistakes, you can learn from history. When you’re offended by history, you miss the whole point.

God has called us to four roles in culture :

  1. Futurists; prophetic visionaries who with divine foresight and inspired insights peer into the future as it was meant to be, to direct society to their noble purpose and timeless promise.
  2. Solutionaries ; prophetic solutionaries who bring wisdom, knowledge, experience and skill, to bear on pressing and entrenched challenges in an effort to create positive change in communities.
  3. Cultural Architects ; leaders who are shaping culture and inspire collective reasoning that helps create healthy, happy, safe, and prosperous communities for the generations to come.
  4. Kairos Conductors; we know the times and the appropriate act or actions required by the times.

“In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.” -Eric Hoffer
