God uses trials to test where we have our faith. In this podcast, I teach how God ultimately is in control of our destiny. I want to encourage you today that our faith is in the Promiser, not only the promise!
PROVIDENCE: THE DIVINE X FACTOR PODCAST NOTES
God is the divine X factor. In Genesis 12 when God spoke to Abraham, the first word was not where he was going, but where he couldn’t stay.
“Now the Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you;’” Genesis 12:1.
We often live under a false sense of security, believing that we are actually in control of our destiny.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105. There are times and seasons where God is a lamp to our feet, and other times He is a light to our path. There are times where the Lord refuses to show us our future
or destiny because the goal is to have us anchored in Him, not the vision for our lives.
We also have “light to our path” seasons where we get words that give light to where God is taking us, and these are wonderful and encouraging. But there are times that God blinds us to what is coming because He wants our confidence to be in Who we are with, not where we are going.
Trials test who we have faith in. Do we have faith in our circumstances, or the God of my circumstances? When Joshua had to take the city of Jericho, he encountered an angel of the Lord and asked, “are you for us or for our enemies?” The angel said, “No, rather I have come now as captain of the army of the Lord.” It’s not whether or not God is on our side; the question is, are we on His side?
God is the one who holds the future! God often takes the things we find security in and shakes them – not to hurt us, but to show us what we’re relying on. My security in God’s fulfillment of promises can’t be in my circumstances, but it must be in God Himself.
When you think things are bad, God is often in the middle of it! God has prepared good works for us before He even made us. He formed us to be perfect for the call on our lives. You never know how God is using your current circumstance to prepare you for your future.
