SERMON - THE POWER OF FAITH

 Kris Vallotton | December 1, 2022
Faith creates an alternative ending to your story. In this week’s podcast, I continue my sermon series on finding your superpower with the power of faith. I want to encourage you to learn to walk in the earnest expectation of God’s provision.

THE POWER OF FAITH SERMON NOTES

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Working for reward is not wrong; it’s required by faith. I understand when we say don’t work for reward we are saying “don’t love someone just to get something back.” In the midst of loving people and being motivated correctly by love, kindness and gentleness, we also don’t want to lose sight that we’re also supposed to want a reward.

I think we seldom have only one motivation for anything, because we’re much deeper people than boiling down our actions to only one motivation. Of course we need to be motivated by love for people and compassion. However, when we work in the kingdom, we’re also supposed to anticipate that there’s a reward coming back to us. If I sow generosity in kindness, I reap kindness in return. If I sow being a good friend I get a good friend in return.

What would happen if we lived by faith in our everyday lives? If we actually envision our day as what it would be like if we were successful in these areas and what we have faith for becomes a reality? What if we bring in testimonies to our meetings? Faith is powerful to bring transformation!

We all know and love 2 Corinthians 5:17, but recently 2 Corinthians 5:16 has caught my eye:

“Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

We need to know each other born again, looking future-present, not past-present. When you live with people who anticipate greatness in you it pushes you into your divine call and destiny. I was saved when I accepted Christ, but I was transformed when I realized He believes in me.
