SERMON - BUILDING A PILLAR OF JUSTICE

 Kris Vallotton | Nov 11, 2022
In this message from November 6th, 2022 at Bethel Church in Redding CA, Kris Vallotton shares about the importance of building an altar of encounter to the Lord which becomes a pillar of justice and a plumbline to change a nation and the world. The deeper the darkness, the brighter the light is needed to shine. God is raising up His Church to bring transformation- not through invasion but through invitation!

BUILDING A PILLAR OF JUSTICE SERMON NOTES

- Jacob met the Lord through a dream in the city of Luz and his encounter with God actually changed the DNA of the city. The city once famous for almonds was renamed Bethel which means ‘city of God’. (Genesis 28:10-22)

- When Jacob awoke, he set up a pillar which later on is called an altar (Genesis 35:7). In the same way, your encounter (altar) with God will change the DNA of your city and create a pillar which is a plumbline that brings justice and righteousness.

- You become a pillar in your community as you overcome. (Revelation 3:12)

- Jesus is our perfect example as he created justice and cleansed people from their sins through the cross. When we become a believer, no longer is God looking for what we have done wrong but we are made righteous and become a plumbline for the presence of God to flow through.

- Here at Bethel, we are not just building a building but the Lord is creating a plumbline and increasing the capacity of this movement to change the history of America and the world. The deeper the darkness, the brighter the light is needed to shine. God is not just moving here in Redding but he is raising up His Church!

God is establishing 7 pillars:
  1. Justice: The law is the foundation of justice. (Proverbs 29:4)
  2. Peace: This is the foundation of government and government facilitates peace. (Isaiah 9:7)
  3. Love: Fathers are the facilitators of love. (Romans 13:10)
  4. Honor: This is the element that allows people to be empowered rather than controlled.
  5. Truth: This is more than honesty but the embodiment of reality. Teachers are the stewards of truth. (Proverbs 29:14)
  6. Righteousness: This is more than the accumulation of good character choices. Rather, it is the visible expression of the habitation of an invisible and holy God. (Proverbs 20:28)
  7. Wisdom: This is the ability to rightly apply knowledge to build a future envisioned by the creator. (Proverbs 3:13)
- Paul stepped into Greek culture and preached the gospel through building a pillar of justice not through invasion but through invitation. (Acts 17:16-33) The Lord is doing the same thing now and building a bridge between the Church and the cities of the world.

- God is growing our capacity to set up pillars of justice in all spheres of society.  Though we are still in the days of small beginnings, God has placed a plumbline in our hand! (Zechariah 4:10)
