As I’ve been teaching over the last couple of months, I keep coming to the theme of the coming reformers. If you haven’t heard my last two messages on this topic, you can listen to part one, The Way Forward, here and part two, What it Takes to Transform Culture, here .
The way you think about the end directly affects how you behave in the middle. If we have the mindset that the world is going to burn, then we don’t transform the culture around us because we don’t think there’s a point to doing so. Our eschatology, what we think about the end times, is important. It affects our view and how we carry out the mandate of on earth as it is in heaven.
What do you have faith for? When David was king of Israel, he was under the law and there were specific instructions for the tabernacle and the ark of the covenant. But David entered into worship in a way that would be established in the new covenant that wasn't the reality he was living in at his time. We can still believe in the promises of God and believe for more than we’ve seen yet.
We were created to disciple nations! I don’t want to think small like the 10 spies in the promised land. I want to think about the fact that angels are with me throughout my day, and I serve a God who eats problems for breakfast. We were born to win!
